Contracted Medical Services

PRESS RELEASE

July 6, 2017

The Cache County Jail is in the process of moving towards contracting for all medical services in our jail. Requests for proposals have been sent out, and several great companies have responded and will be making presentations to the Sheriff’s Administration in the next few weeks.

Our goal is to have a contract awarded by August 1 and the new company in place by September 1.

In the short term, we have several part-time nurses who will be in the facility on a regular basis. Bear River Health Department nursing staff will also be in our facility three times a week to assist with nursing and administering TB tests to the inmates and detainees who require them.

Our physician will be doing clinics inside the jail at least twice weekly and our pharmacy will be assisting us with passing required medication to our inmates. Arrangements have been made with other County Jails to house our inmates who comes to our facility with special medical needs.

Medical care of our housed inmates is of the upmost importance to our staff and facility. Any necessary transfers to a hospital or other correctional facility will be made urgently to assist in the prompt care of our inmates.
