Protective Orders
If you are the victim of violence you may petition the First District Court for a protective order.
The purpose for a protective order is
Once the Ex-Parte (temporary) Protective Order is granted, it is served immediately. A court date is set for a Protective Order hearing. Violation of a Protective Order is a Class A Misdemeanor, and any subsequent violations may be enhanced to felonies.
Law Enforcement takes an aggressive role when dealing with Protective Order complaints.
