In recent years our neighborhoods have experienced rapid
change. The older well-established neighborhoods of the past
have been replaced by highly transient growing communities
where people seek more privacy. This lifestyle tends to promote
unfamiliarity with neighbors and a corresponding lack of concern.
Unfortunately, this enhances the opportunity for the criminal
element to enter in and increase the community's vulnerability
to crime.
These conditions dictate the need for crime prevention programs
that will enhance neighborhood security, heighten the
community's power of observation, and encourage mutual assistance
and concern among neighbors.

Neighborhood Watch is one of the two crime prevention programs sponsored by the Cache County Sheriff's Office.

The main objective of the program is to reduce crime by: 1. Increasing citizen awareness of burglary and other neighborhood crimes. |

2. Training citizens in better property security and assisting them in making their property more secure. |
|
3. Encouraging citizens to cooperate with law enforcement in reporting crimes.
